OffTheDribble x Deke Cooper Jr

Question: What/who got you started with basketball?

Deke: At the age of 6 or 7 i would always go and watch my older sisters play basketball for their middle school and it looked fun and i always wanted to try it so the very next week i was put into basketball and loved it ever since.

Question: What’s one thing you like about basketball in Georgia?

Deke: One thing I like about Georgia basketball is the shot clock rule because to me it helps me play harder defense by just knowing I am going be playing for at max 35 seconds. When we don’t allow the other team a shot so it pushes me to play harder.

Question: What player would you say you model your game after?

Deke: I would  say I  show shades of D Book with getting to my spot, pulling up, the ability to shoot it from outside, and even get to the basket when I need to.

Question: Best team you have played against this year and why?

Deke: The best team I have played against this year was utah prospects and that was because it was a midnight game,  everyone on  their team was hitting shots, everyone was playing their role and executed everything well. We went on to lose by 25.

Question: What do you feel like you need to work on in your game ?

Deke: Something I feel I need to work on is my pace and change of speed to keep the defense guessing and making it easier to attack the basket and get by defenders.

Question: What do you feel like your strengths are out on the court?

Deke: I feel like my strengths are shooting the ball, which spreads the floor for my teammates and my pull up and ability to rise over defenders to get my shot off. My defense is also a big strength for me being able to switch off of screens and being able to guard the 1-5.

Question: What are your goals for this upcoming HS season?

Deke: My main goal for this high school season is to end my highschool career with a ring .

Question: What schools have shown the most love recently?

Deke: Columbia University, Drexel, Airforce, Furman, Lehigh and Charleston Southern have shown me the most love so far -

Question: Any future visits planned? Or campuses you look forward to visiting?

Deke: I have Tennesee tech, Kennesaw, Tulane and Georgia State planned in the future and I look forward to visiting Columbia, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Notre Dame in the future.

OffTheDribble x Prince Alexander Moody  â€‹

Question: What/who got you started with basketball?

Prince:  A lady by the name of Tonya Manago, who is currently the Athletic Director for Suitland High School, introduced my family to Upper Marlboro Boys and Girls Club.  She invited me to play for her 3rd grade team even though I was only 6.   My older sister and her daughter Darnita played together for Largo High School with Coach Ball, Cam Ward’s mom.  My first coach was a lady by the name of Tiffany.   Tonya saw me climbing ropes and trying to play ball at Largo.   She was and is one of the most caring people we know.  She even waived the initial fee for me to participate because we couldn’t afford it.  Tonya was the Commissioner for the Basketball program back then.

Question: What’s one thing you like about basketball in Maryland?

Prince:  The one thing I love the most about basketball in Maryland is the level of competition.   You have to work harder to stand out and if you are fortunate enough to be blessed to stand out then the harsh competitive environment almost always prepares you for next level competition.  Iron sharpens iron.

Question: What player would you say you model your game after?

Prince: I am modeling my game after Kyrie Irving.

Question: Best team you have played against this year and why?

Prince: This is a tough question because there is a lot of top level competition out there, especially with playing in the WCAC and the Nike EYBL circuit.  On any given day any of the WCAC teams can beat each other therefore if I had to choose, I would say PVI, having to play against a team loaded with 5 stars who worked as a team.

Question: What do you feel like you need to work on in your game?

Prince: I need to work on with my game is off-ball defense and perfecting my reads.

Question: What do you feel like your strengths are out on the court?

Prince: my strengths on the court are my IQ, efficiency, speed,  scoring ability and my ball handling for a 6’ 4” player.

Question: What are your goals for this upcoming HS season?

Prince: My goal this season is to win the WCAC championship and to make WCAC first team.

Question: What schools have shown the most love recently?

Prince: The most recent schools to show interests are Oregon, Oklahoma State, FSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Georgia (offered), University of Virginia (offered), George Washington (offered), San Diego, St.  Louis, and a few more.

Question: How was the Georgetown visit and what other schools are you looking forward to visiting.

Prince: The Georgetown visit felt like family.   I love the staff and  I love the staff and especially Coach Cooley. I am not sure what schools I’ll visit next, because of time constraints, but I am definitely open to visiting more unofficially. especially Coach Cooley.    I am not sure what schools I’ll visit next, because of time constraints, but I am definitely open to visiting more unofficially.
